In a short video shared on social media, Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda, President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, is seen not only listening to The Lord Is My Shepherd performed by Padre Guilherme, but also inviting viewers to the "Straight Path to God" Festival in Gdańsk, where the world-renowned priest-DJ will perform.
„Have you heard about the priest who is a DJ and evangelizes thousands of young people around the world? On August 15, at the Ergo Arena in Gdańsk-Sopot, you will meet Padre Guilherme—a priest from Portugal who speaks about Jesus through music,” said Archbishop Wojda, emphasizing the evangelizing nature of the priest’s mission.
Padre Guilherme’s full name is Fr. Guilherme Peixoto. Originally from Portugal, he has touched the hearts of young people worldwide through electronic music and his witness of faith. He gained international recognition during World Youth Day in Lisbon in 2023.Organizers asked him to “wake up the pilgrims” at 7 a.m. before the outdoor Mass celebrated by Pope Francis. Wearing a Roman collar and large black headphones, Padre Guilherme moved to the rhythm of electronic music interwoven with excerpts from Pope Francis’ speeches from the previous day. He began with the famous words of St. John Paul II: „Do not be afraid!” The result captivated 1.5 million pilgrims.
Following World Youth Day, Padre Guilherme was invited to perform at numerous major religious events not only across Europe, but also in the United States, South America, and the Middle East. In November 2025, while evangelizing through music in front of the cathedral in Košice, Slovakia, Pope Leo XIV appeared on a large screen via a live connection from the Vatican. The Holy Father listened to the music for a moment before imparting his blessing.
If You Want to Experience More Than a Concert...
Padre Guilherme’s next performance will take place on August 15, 2026, in Gdańsk during the Prosta Droga do Boga Festival. Archbishop Wojda extended a personal invitation in the next part of the video:
“At the Straight Path to God Festival, we will celebrate the Holy Eucharist together under the leadership of Cardinal Robert Sarah. There will also be Eucharistic Adoration, praise and worship, and a unique opportunity to encounter both God and one another. If you want to experience something more than a concert—if you long for meaning, are searching for hope, and desire a positive atmosphere—come on August 15,”- Archbishop Wojda continued.
The Straight Path to God Festival has received the personal blessing of Pope Leo XIV. The Holy Father expressed his support by signing the festival poster and promising to prepare a special video message for participants.
The festival’s patron saint is St. Maximilian Kolbe—a man of peace, love, sacrifice, and total trust in God. Every ticket purchased serves as a contribution toward the production of the film The Dream of St. Maximilian.
