Dariusz Kowalski is an actor with a strong and distinctive screen presence, combining extensive stage experience with a consistent career in film and television productions. He graduated from the Ludwik Solski State Drama School in Kraków and made his stage debut in 1990 in "Oedipus the King," directed by Mariusz Orski.
Professionally, he has been associated with the Julian Tuwim Studio Theatre ’83 in Łódź and the Jan Kochanowski Powszechny Theatre in Radom. Since 1998, he has been a member of the Kazimierz Dejmek New Theatre in Łódź. Since 2020, he has also served as co-founder and Artistic Director of the Polish Classics Theatre.
On screen, he is remembered for his role as Janusz Tracz in the series ‘”Plebania” - a role that has become one of the most recognizable character roles in Polish television. He made his film debut in the early 1990s, including an appearance in „Daens”, and later appeared in Polish productions such as „Listopad” (November) and „Strefa ciszy” (Zone of Silence).
In 2018, he was awarded the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis.
In his private life, he is spiritually engaged and gives testimony to his faith, particularly during meetings with young people and through initiatives connected with Jasna Góra and Niepokalanów. He often speaks about the spirituality of St. Maksymilian Kolbe, who is especially close to his heart and collaborates with Radio Niepokalanów.
